Esplanade Metro Station, located in Kolkata, has recently been honored with the prestigious “Eat Right Station” certificate by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). This recognition applauds the station’s commendable efforts in offering high-quality and nutritious food options to commuters.
The FSSAI grants this certification to railway stations that strictly adhere to the prescribed standards for food storage and hygiene, ensuring the provision of safe and wholesome meals to passengers. To evaluate compliance, a third-party audit agency assesses several parameters, including cleanliness, water facilities, waste disposal, and more.
The audit also scrutinizes the food vendors operating within the station premises, monitoring their adherence to safe cooking and handling practices during food preparation and service. The “Eat Right Station” certification is part of FSSAI’s broader initiative known as the “Eat Right India” movement. Esplanade Metro Station is the fourth station in Bengal, joining Kolkata, Asansol, and Durgapur, to receive this esteemed recognition.

The Esplanade Metro Station has been bestowed with this significant certification valid until February 19, 2025.
