The government of India has released new quality control guidelines that cover more than 145 steel products. In a Gazette announcement this new notice replaces the prior quality control system (QCO) that was a covering for 112 items ranging from stainless steel pipes and tubes to the primary cell and battery components. The majority included in this notification Quality Control orders like specifications to Steel Wire for Staples, Pins and Clips will be effective immediately.
It is a requirement that defective or substandard steel, or products made of steel which are not in compliance to the specifications, is to be disposed of as scrap.
The QCO includes items such as Steel Chequered Plates, Mild steel used for welding electrodes and wire rods made from mild steel that can be used in general engineering, and many more.
The quality control of Galvanized Structural Steel will be effective within 3 months. QCO to Hot-dip Zinc Coating on Structural Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement Ferrochromium as well as Silicomanganese lasts for 6 months.
